Before starting or installing new OS, re-set/clear ROM/RAM of your mac: i.e Press and hold option(alt)+command(win logo key)+P+R keys, all together and start the computer. If following my horizontal dismantle/assembly approach, make sure that there is room for boot USB underneath the computer.Ħ. Did not buy two headed 50$ cable for SSD with temperature sensor either. I Installed Big-sur with no problems with updates or fans etc.

It was then turned off, removed protective plastics, and glued for the good.Ĥ. Since new tape is a double sided tape, I glued three pieces on metal faces only and I left protective plastic on (intact) until I ensured mac's new operating system was working good. I had to cut and remove new tape about 1/2" (left+right sides) as it was harder to reach bottom side (I used new tape for three sides only while old tape at bottom was still intact). Old tape was easily using finger nails, since screen was still connected at the bottom. (I taped SATA connecter as well so drive wont fall off due to heating etc. There is enough space for 7mm thick SSD+ old cable and it wont hit LCD if you secure them with duct tape and leave it there. After making sure everything worked, had no fan problem etc, I glued it back gently and tapped upper two corners of the screen for safety, which remained there few days.ġ.

I did not glued back right away until I installed new os using a bootable OS USB.

(I used 2tb SSD, so it could be partitioned to install two operating systems later on). I did'nt had to remove any LCD cables or screws from old drive.

Before prying, my Mac was laid flat on it's back (horizontally on a quilt with books/pillows etc) as I do think prying in a vertical position is dangerous.īased on reviewer's experiences whose screen fell-off or bottom of the screen was hard to remove, I pried-off screen (using supplied plastic tool) three sides only, gently lifting less than 1/16" at a time, equally at all three sides (top, left and right) and finally lifted it about 3"-4" high from top only, so I could pull out existing SATA cable from HDD end only and then placed and re-connected a brand new, pre-formatted (osx extended) 2tb SSD on top of existing old drive, which remained inside. Before buying, make sure that you are ordering the right size and everything is ready. This 15.99$ LeFix 27" kit worked for a 27" i-Mac (late 2015, retina 5k).

Adhesive strips must be replaced every time after the display is removed for repair or upgrade purposes, these are the highest quality adhesive stickers available but they require 100% correct installation upon perfectly clean parts that have no trace of dirt/ dust or the previous adhesive tapes for maximum contact heat the adhesive with hair dryer before applying.

After the adhesive is cut, it cannot be used to re-seal the display in place, so you'll need to apply a new set of adhesive strips. Why Need to Buy This Item Removing the display requires cutting through the adhesive around the perimeter of the screen.
